RV Park Review : Long Lake Campground July 28, 2009

We begin our travel and RV Park reviews today.  We stayed with some friends of ours who recently bought a lot at a campground in Ashland, Ohio.  The place is named Long Lake Campground.  This RV Park and Campground is very nice.  The owner and his family were very accomodating and willing to help our friends (who are new to RVing).   The grounds are well kept and allow each camper with an adequate amount of space on each lot.  My kids  really enjoyed the new in-gound pool, for hours on end.

New swimming pool

It is a shame that the lake-side swimming area is closed though…what kid doesn’t enjoy  swimming in a lake?  Oh well, I guess trying to keep the pool clean of lake water is a challenge and it probably makes sense to close the swimming lake.

We fished off the pier and caught some bluegill, with hopes to get some crappie or bass.  My daughter is a real fisherman at heart.  Being only 7 she enjoyed casting off the pier and with total concentration watched her line.  Pulling in a few bluegill was the highlight of her fishing trip at Long Lake Campgound.  The camp may want to rethink their boat rental rates (seemed a little high), and possibly add more boats in better condition to the rental fleet.  They could also clean up the shoreline and make it more kid-fishing friendly.  There were a lot of lilypads lining the lake which made it hard to shore fish.

The game room and rectreation facility appears newer, and offers the teens a place to hangout and spend time together.  These buildings were clean and well kept, and the kids had a lot of fun playing games.

This campground is also located near the Mohican canoe livery.  This livery is a popular spot for canoeing and camping.  Another great reason to visit Long Lake Campground.

RV Park Review : Long Lake Campground

This campground is very nice and I would recommend it to others who are traveling in the area, or who are looking for a weekend getaway.  The only thing I need to cover on the down-side is the race track located across the lake.  On Friday nights it gets a little noisy from the announcer and the cars…but if you like races, it won’t bother you a bit.  Maybe stop over at the track and enjoy some hotrods!

So this RV park and Campground gets a thumbs up and a 7 out of 10 rating from me and my family.

Have you stayed at this park?  Do you have feedback on it? Let me know your thoughts…

Until then, keep discovering the outdoors!
